Maleko McDonnell
Maleko McDonnell grew up in Kailua on the Windward side of Oahu and graduated from St. Louis School. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications, Broadcast Journalism from Northwest Missouri State University.
Maleko joined KITV’s News team in 2016 after spending 20 years in radio at iHeartMedia. As a radio announcer on Star 101.9-FM, Maleko won the Honolulu Star-Bulletin’s People’s Choice Award for Best Radio Personality in 2006. Maleko was the first radio announcer to break into programming and provide non-stop coverage following an early morning earthquake and the resulting island-wide power outage in 2006. When Oahu’s power grid failed again in 2008, Maleko was on-air from the start providing radio coverage throughout the event.

A recognized social media influencer, Maleko brings his considerable marketing expertise to the table for clients, locally and globally. Maleko hosts a weekly podcast on the iHeartRadio network, interviewing local business leaders, experts, and musical guests. He also appears regularly as the master of ceremonies for local events. Maleko is the official race announcer and voice of the Honolulu Marathon Association and is the co-owner and co-producer of the internationally famous “Le Dîner en Blanc – Honolulu,” in its 8th year in 2021.
In addition to his work, Maleko enjoys community theatre. He is a multi-awarded Po’okela Award winner, appearing most recently in Manoa Valley Theatre’s critically acclaimed production of “Shipment Day” and the Off-Broadway hit show “Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding.”
Maleko McDonnell anchors Good Morning Hawaii from 4:30 AM to 7 AM, Monday through Friday.
Flash Hansen
Born and raised in Hawai’i, Flash Hansen has cultivated a vast network in a career spanning over 25 years in the realms of Event, Entertainment, Public Relations, and Marketing.

Flash is a man of many talents, including being the host of iHeartRadio’s Star 101.9 afternoon drive; catch his show “Flash Drive” every afternoon from 4 PM to 12 AM!
In March 2020, when efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 forced musicians and venues to cancel concerts and events, Maleko & Flash spearheaded a campaign to bring televised concert performances to fans at home, creating Living Room Live — #AlohaTogether. The concert series features local and international recording artists and a long list of local celebrities and personalities offering messages of hope and uplifting performances. The show was used to benefit COVID-19 relief, raising money to buy Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Hawaii’s healthcare workers and first responders.
